This week's spotlight is focused on two of my favorite game related movies. I enjoy teen sci-fi movies because they include intensity, romance, thrill, and leaves you resonating with the "what if" question. These two movies can't be found on Netflix or YouTube, but they are ones that I strongly recommend watching!
Nerve
Nerve, released in 2016, was the teen drama/mystery of the summer. The movie is about a high school student (Vee) who falls into peer pressure and pure curiosity of a secret online game. The game is set up like a more intense version of truth or dare. Each truth or dare you complete successfully results in a cash prize, but if a player fails the challenge in the time given all money is lost and they are disqualified from the game.
Ready player one
Ready Player One, directed by Steven Spielberg, was released this year in March. The movie is set in the future and is about how a large amount of society ranging from all ages are looking to escape reality by joining a virtual online world (the OASIS) to meet other individuals and be who they really want to be. The story-line focuses on a teenage boy (Wade Watts) who enters the challenge to uncover the hidden secrets the game creator left before he died.
